Dear Fairfax Voters,
We want to extend our heartfelt thanks for your support of the BFA Fairfax School Budget on Tuesday. Your engagement in this process is deeply appreciated. While we view the approval of the budget as a positive step forward, we recognize that our work is far from over.
Balancing the needs of our students, families, and broader community is a complex and ongoing responsibility. The budgeting process involves months of thoughtful planning, open discussions, and tough decisions. These conversations happen in public meetings, and we warmly encourage you to join us—your voice truly matters and makes the end product better.
Throughout this process, we have received insightful feedback and ideas from many of you. Your input helps shape the direction of our schools, and we remain committed to staying accessible—whether by email, individual meetings, or during our regularly scheduled board meetings, both in-person and virtual. You can follow all our meeting agendas directly from the BFA Fairfax website here: https://www.bfafairfax.com/o/bfa/page/fairfax-school-board
We also remain in close communication with our legislators regarding the ongoing discussions about education reform in Montpelier. There are many proposals under consideration, and we recognize that this year's uncertainty—whether through short-term financial relief or more comprehensive reform—added complexity to our budgeting decisions. Despite these challenges, we are committed to staying actively engaged in the conversation and providing feedback to ensure Fairfax’s needs are represented.
As members of this community ourselves, we share your hopes for our school and our town. We are here to represent your voices and to work in partnership with you to ensure the best outcomes for our students and for Fairfax as a whole.
With gratitude and commitment,
Emily Aiken, Chair
On behalf of the Fairfax School Board
